Dave Prowse, Darth Vader from the original Star Wars trilogy, made a special appearance at the KideQuip zone on the last day of this year’s show (28th-30th April, NEC, Birmingham).

Dave announced the winning tickets of the show’s visitor raffle and one lucky visitor received the top prize – a master replica Star Wars light sabre donated by Darth Vader himself! Dave was also on hand to speak to visitors and sign autographs in exchange for donations to the children’s charity, The Association of Wheelchair Children, of which he is a patron.

The KideQuip area of Naidex ’09 is dedicated to children’s equipment and services and aimed at paediatric healthcare professionals and parents of children with disabilities.  As a special feature of Kidequip, The Association of Wheelchair Children organised the ‘Hot Wheels’ feature during the three days of the event. The charity offered free of charge training sessions to wheelchair using young people on the practical aspects of wheelchair skills such as road safety.

Naidex ’09 is the UK’s leading disability, rehabilitation and homecare show. Last year over 10,000 visitors attended Naidex to see the latest products and services to aid independent living. Thousands of key buyers from around the UK including healthcare professionals, mobility dealers and retailers, as well as members of the public with disabilities or disabled relatives will be attending the event.

The Association of Wheelchair Children is a specialist national charity providing expert training and advice to wheelchair-using children and their

families across the UK. The charity teaches children useful, practical skills, empowering them with the ability to assess risk and to move safely and confidently about their homes and neighbourhood.
