Following two days of voting by visitors and exhibitors, the Volker Vis-à-Vis Care Bed from Bakare Beds Ltd was deemed the most innovative disability product on show this year and has been awarded the New Product of the Year Award on the second day of Naidex ’09 (28-30th April, NEC).
Renowned within the disability, homecare and rehabilitation industry for its widespread kudos, the Naidex New Product of the Year Award has again showcased the ‘best of the best’. The Vis-à-Vis was selected via an interactive voting station from the vast array of shortlisted products in the New Product Gallery (stand E195) which all excelled in terms of design, quality and innovation.
“We are absolutely ecstatic to have won this prestigious award for the Volker Vis-à-Vis Care Bed,” commented Mark Swain, Sales Director, Bakare Beds Ltd. The Vis-à-Vis developed by Bakare Beds Ltd, won this accolade due to its revolutionary design that facilitates lying to sitting, sitting to standing and standing to walking. The user can stand easier and walk away from the bed without having the inconvenience of being moved around in bed, therefore allowing active independence.
Liz Virgo, Naidex Event Manager, Emap Connect commented, “We are absolutely delighted that Bakare Beds Ltd has taken this year’s award. Its Vis-a-Vis represents a shining example of the innovation we are currently witnessing within disability product design. Considering the dramatic difference this product will hopefully make to many peoples’ lives, Bakare Beds Ltd fully deserves this award and we congratulate them on such an outstanding product.”
N & C Phlexicare Ltd came second with the FreeSpace - its inclusive shower area that can be used by the whole family. Amadeus International came third with the 360 EasySip specifically designed for users to drink with non-spill peace of mind.
Over the past 35 years, Naidex has steadily developed to become the UK’s leading disability event with thousands of products being exhibited by over 360 specialist companies to aid independent living - including wheelchairs, scooters, adapted vehicles, pressure relieving beds, walking aids, recliner chairs, stairlifts, access equipment and daily living aids. This showcase is complemented by several innovative features and an extensive educational programme. For trade representatives, healthcare professionals, parents, carers and teachers of special needs children, Naidex ‘09 has again providing a rich and rewarding experience.
