Just days after the launch of the resources and waste strategy, MRW hosted a round table at Portcullis House in Westminster. It was the first chance for the industry to get together to discuss Defra’s publication; The event was supported by FCC, Valpak and the All Party Parliamentary Sustainable Resource Group. It was held even before the Environment Audit Committee had had a chance to grill environment secretary Michael Gove that same day.

Drapers’ Keely Stocker has been named Editor of the Year (Trade and Professional) at the British Society of Magazine Editors Awards 2018. Keely has held various roles at Drapers since joining in 2005 as administrative assistant, including online editor and deputy editor. She was part of the team that launched Drapersonline.com in 2007. Since becoming editor in 2015, she has overhauled the brand’s content across print, digital and events, ensuring Drapers remains an essential read for those in fashion retail.

The Architects’ Journal has won PPA Business Magazine of the Year – one of the most prestigious accolades in publishing The AJ picked up the award at a ceremony in London on 27 June 2018, beating seven other magazines to win the award. The judges described the AJ as ‘a modern business magazine that operates at the highest level and understands its audience’s needs’.

Drapers was named B2B Brand of the Year at The Drum’s Online Media Awards in central London on 22nd May 2018. Drapers head of digital engagement Kat Spybey was also named Technology Leader of the Year. Drapers editor Keely Stocker was shortlisted for editor of the year, alongside the editors of Al Jazeera English, Channel 5 News, The Independent, and BT Sport.

Tom Carpenter, art director at the Architectural Review, has won the prestigious PPA Designer of the Year (business media) award. The PPA (Professional Publishers Association) Awards are among the most competitive and highly prized in the business – and Emap has seen a strong showing in nominations this year across its architectural and fashion brands, making it onto an impressive six shortlists.

The UK Jewellery Awards, often dubbed the jewellery industry Oscars, marked its 25th anniversary edition on June 29 with a sparkling ceremony at London’s Hilton on Park Lane. The annual event, which recognises excellence across the jewellery and watch industry awarding 19 categories covering everything from retail and design through to supply and manufacturing, welcomed over 600 guests for its silver anniversary ceremony representing all areas of the trade.

Drapers has been named a finalist in the Best Conference Series category at the Conference Awards 2017. We have been the fashion industry’s bible for the past 130 years, but 2016 was a ground-breaking year for our conferences. A portfolio of two long-standing events, comprising the Drapers Fashion Forum and the Digital Forum, and one new conference called the Drapers Operations Forum, together delivered year-on-year revenue growth of 40%. Revenue from our flagship content-led conference, the Drapers Fashion Forum, grew by 19% to record levels.

The CKK Jordanki concert hall in Poland, by Menis Arquitectos, which was shortlisted in the Completed Buildings: Culture category at WAF 2016. The World Architecture Festival (WAF) has announced that ‘Performance’ will be the theme for its tenth edition, which is to be held at the Arena Berlin in Germany from 15-17 November 2017.
