About us

Construction News is an award-winning subscriber title published by EMAP, providing news, insight and events for the UK construction industry, a backbone of the national economy. A long-established and highly respected B2B brand, CN focuses on the largest and most significant property and infrastructure projects in the UK, across the private and public sectors, as well as the many organisations responsible for building them.

Our coverage ranges from the turmoil of HS2 and Hinkley to the business impact of Brexit and the scourge of modern slavery.

Editorial output includes online news and analysis, a weekly print magazine, multiple daily newsletters and regular face-to-face events, all supported by high-traffic social media accounts.

About the role

We are looking for a capable professional ready to support CN’s production editor across all print and digital output. Ideally, you will have gained at least two years’ experience working in a fast-paced B2B environment.

The role includes sub-editing and fact-checking, so both a keen eye and sharp mind will be essential, as you will often be the last person to touch a story before it reaches our demanding audience. We are also keen to recruit a team player, able to interact confidently with all our reporters and editors to help improve the brand.

An interest in the built environment or experience with a similar technical/business topic would be ideal.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Subbing expertise including concise headline writing, accurate copy editing and simple picture editing
  • Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign, including basic layout skills
  • Experience with web CMS and social media platforms
  • Familiarity with web analytics applications (ideally Adobe Analytics)
  • Basic Illustrator and Photoshop skills would be helpful
