About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Property Week team as an investigative reporter on the news desk. The 18-strong editorial team has a track record of producing award-winning journalists who go on to write for the nationals and the successful candidate will be replacing someone who has done just that after.

About you

We are seeking a dynamic self-starter who is looking to take the next step in their career and write about an industry at the very heart of the UK economy. The candidate will ideally have experience of business journalism, a track record of breaking news stories and an interest in carving out a name for themselves as an investigative journalist. They will be joining our newly formed investigations unit and working closely with the contributing editor (features) and data journalist to deliver ground-breaking investigations. They will also cover several key news patches as part of Property Week’s five-strong news desk.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for investigative journalism, with the ability to write clear, concise, accurate and eye-catching news copy. With the confidence to interview and build contacts among senior investors, commercial property agents and financiers.  You will also grasp new and complex subjects quickly working to tight deadlines.

Key Accountabilities: 

 

  • Conducting in-depth investigations as part of our newly formed investigations unit
  • Building contacts and breaking exclusive news stories both in print and online as part of the news desk
  • Producing authoritative on-diary news and analysis for print and online
  • Writing heavy-hitting features including high-profile interviews
  • Representing Property Week at industry events
  • Some UK and international travel
