Trading as emap for its B2B division, Metropolis International is a fast-growing business, privately owned Media Group with over £50m of annual revenue, structured in two divisions – consumer media, and business-to-business media. In both parts of the business, we run print magazines, digital content and both face-to-face and virtual awards, conferences, and other events. Metropolis is actively looking at acquiring more media businesses. We employ over 480 people in offices in West London, Croydon, Fleet street, Devon and Dublin.
Since launch in 1985, Money Marketing has been the number one information source for the independent financial adviser with the most respected journalists in the business. MM’s multi-award winning team of reporters work across our print magazine and daily website, offering an unrivalled news service alongside in-depth analysis and comment on market issues.
Overall Purpose of the Role:
The Editor has overall editorial responsibility for their titles. This includes people management and operational and strategic responsibility for maintaining and expanding circulation of existing print and online offerings. The job holder is also responsible for successfully developing digital and web brands, as well as delivering an engaging events proposition for the brand and supporting commercial activity and creative solutions opportunities.
Key responsibilities:
Strategy
- Set overall digital and print content strategy to maintain brand reputation and status
- Work closely and collaboratively with commercial teams in all areas of regular and project-based revenue to maximize revenue generating opportunities
- Represent emap/Metropolis, Money Marketing and our wider financial brands at external events and network as required
- Maintain quality audience experiences and positive feedback to maintain the value of the brand as a route to audience delivery
Operations
- Responsible for the accuracy, quality, platform neutrality and audience appropriateness of the content of the brand both in print and online
- Manage delivery and deadlines across news and features
- Set and maintain the production schedule to ensure that the magazine is published by established publication dates
- Generate topics for articles through personal and professional network and encourage team to do likewise
- Edit features and ensure they are fit to be published –including requesting amendments and rewrites
- Produce weekly leader column for Money Marketing
People Management
- Responsible for managing all contributors to Money Marketing (7 direct reports)
- Ensuring strategy is communicated to all members of staff so they can establish where, what they deliver, fits with the business goals
- Train and develop staff as required including ensuring all staff have up to date and fully approached stretching business objectives on the performance management system
- Responsible for all resourcing, people management, performance, or training issues for direct reports
Financial
- Ensure content related spend is kept to or under the annual budget
Skills and experience:
- Exemplary journalism skills both in producing valuable and insightful written content and editing own work and that of others
- In-depth knowledge of print publication production process as well as online and digital proposition
- Thorough and commercial knowledge of the financial market

This exciting position is a full-time hybrid role. 2 days in the office, 3 days from home. This could change over time depending on business needs.
