John Fassinidge from our Croydon office shall be running 3 Marathons in April – Manchester, Boston USA and lastly London. All this to raise some desperately needed funds for the Multiple Sclerosis Trust.
MS is a debilitating and progressive disease for which there is currently no known cure. It impacts not just on the sufferers but also on the lives of their families and friends who do their best to cope and provide emotional and practical support as MS progresses.
My mother suffered from the disease for many years and I saw at first hand the pain and frustration it caused her. More recently my wife's sister, also an MS sufferer, died at the age of 50after living with MS which had been a constant battle for more than two decades.
About the charity
The MS Trust believes that no one should have to manage MS alone. The charity ensures that people with multiple sclerosis have the specialist care and information they need to get on with their lives.
The charity says -
That’s why we believe that every one of the 110,000 people living with MS in the UK should have access to an MS specialist nurse; we’re working with the NHS to fund new MS specialist nurses in areas that need them most. And, since 2000, we’ve provided the essential training for every new MS specialist nurse in the UK. We also support the multidisciplinary MS team with residential training, study days and the biggest annual conference for MS professionals in the UK.
