Cyclist is a magazine, events and digital media brand for cycling enthusiasts. Formed in 2012, Cyclist is the premier destination for high-end cycling kit reviews, pro cycling insight and the world’s best cycling adventures.

Overall Purpose of the Role:

To assist the Website Editor and Senior Advertising Manager, in driving affiliate revenue from Cyclist.co.uk through the deployment of affiliate linking and the administration of other related affiliate solutions as advised by senior members of the Cyclist team.

This includes adding links to editorial using our CMS tools, using affiliate network portals to create links data entry to ensure accurate price matching of our editorial content with retailer offers and other related affiliate admin, such as ad hoc reporting and maintaining affiliate dashboards.

Alongside the above, the Affiliate Administrator will be expected to identify, through analysis of pageviews, click-throughs and conversion rates, new areas to focus on to drive incremental revenue for the business through affiliate linking.

Key Accountabilities

  • Affiliate Administration To ensure accurate matching of prices from third parties to our content through the addition of relevant matching data. 15%
  • Affiliate Linking To directly drive revenue, and maintain this revenue, through the creation of affiliate links and the addition of these links to our content via our CMS tools. 20%
  • Editorial Support Work with editorial to give linking support, guidance on best practice and ad hoc assistance during peak promotional periods such as black Friday. 20%
  • Partnership Management Sign up to affiliate programmes via affiliate networks, communicate with partners to ensure a good working relationship is maintained. 20%
  • Prospecting Identify new retailers for Cyclist to work with in the affiliate space, and new revenue opportunities for Cyclist such as editorial that can be monetised more effectively. 10%
  • Reporting To update affiliate dashboards and reporting as and when necessary. 15%

Skills and experience:

  • Excellent data processing and handling skills
  • Knowledge of UK affiliate systems and landscape
  • Attention to detail.
  • Experience of using CMS tools. Some experience of manipulating data – good level of Excel knowledge
  • Data driven
  • Experience of working with editorial teams
  • Experience of using CMSs, some knowledge of HTML
  • Sound knowledge of SEO

Core competencies:

  • Strategy. Make daily judgment calls on which areas to focus on to drive the most revenue for the business; working with editorial and the commercial team to ensure the affiliate strategy is followed through on.
  • Revenue. Have a clear view on revenue being generated and make decisions accordingly to ensure that time is being well spent adding links to the content most likely to provide a return for the business.
  • Make sure we’re working with the right partners in the right places to drive revenue. Who do we link to, where and when?
  • Tech. Assist the tech teams as a point of contact for third party affiliate integrations.
  • Decide on the optimal solution to use based on commercial requirements.
  • Assist the commercial team with data, insight and opportunities

Equipment: Due to hybrid working laptops are provided.

Place of work: This exciting position is a full-time hybrid role. 2 days in the office, 3 days from home. This could change over time depending on business needs.
