We are seeking an ambitious and results-driven Business Development Manager to join our Corporate Subscriptions team. This pivotal role is responsible for identifying, pursuing, and securing new corporate clients across our portfolio of B2B publications and data products. The ideal candidate will possess a strong hunter mentality, exceptional sales acumen, and a deep understanding of the value proposition our content and data deliver to diverse business sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • New Business Development & Sales:
    • Proactively identify and target new corporate client opportunities within relevant industries, leveraging market research, industry trends, and strategic prospecting.
    • Lead the entire sales cycle from lead generation and initial outreach to proposal development, negotiation, and contract closure.
    • Achieve and exceed aggressive new business revenue targets and key performance indicators (KPIs).
    • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to penetrate new markets and expand our corporate client base.
  • Lead Generation & Prospecting:
    • Utilize various tools and techniques to build a robust pipeline of qualified prospects, including cold calling, email campaigns, networking, and industry events.
    • Conduct in-depth research to understand prospective clients’ business needs, challenges, and strategic priorities.
  • Solution Selling & Product Expertise:
    • Clearly articulate the unique value proposition of our B2B publications and data products to new prospects.
    • Conduct compelling presentations and demonstrations, tailoring solutions to address specific client requirements.
    • Stay up to date with industry trends, competitor offerings, and developments within our product portfolio.
  • Relationship Building (New Clients):
    • Establish strong initial relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders within target organizations.
    • Act as a trusted advisor, guiding prospects through the decision-making process and demonstrating long-term partnership potential.
  • Market Intelligence & Reporting:
    • Systematically collect and report on market intelligence, competitive activities, and new business opportunities.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all sales activities, pipeline status, and client interactions within the CRM system.
    • Provide regular forecasts and reports on new business performance to senior management.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with marketing teams to optimize lead generation campaigns and develop compelling sales collateral.
    • Collaborate with the corporate renewals and customer success teams to ensure a smooth handover and positive initial client experience post-sale.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of success in new business development, sales, or account acquisition, preferably within a B2B publishing, media, data, or SaaS environment.
  • Demonstrable ability to consistently achieve and exceed demanding sales targets.
  • Exceptional cold prospecting, lead qualification, and consultative selling skills.
  • Outstanding communication, presentation, and negotiation abilities, capable of engaging senior-level executives.
  • Strong analytical skills to understand client needs and articulate tailored solutions.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage a full sales pipeline effectively.
  • Proficiency in CRM software (e.g. Hubspot) and sales enablement tools.
  • A solid understanding of the B2B media landscape and the value of specialized content and data.
