Trading as emap for its B2B division, Metropolis International is a fast-growing business, privately owned Media Group with over £50m of annual revenue, structured in two divisions – consumer media, and business-to-business media. In both parts of the business, we run print magazines, digital content and both face-to-face and virtual awards, conferences, and other events. Metropolis is actively looking at acquiring more media businesses. We employ over 480 people in offices in Croydon, Fleet street and Dublin.

 

 

Overall Purpose of the Role:

The AP team works to ensure vendors are paid correctly, on time, and in line with our payment policies.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage Supplier Accounts
  • Process the invoices through our financial systems, Zone Capture and NetSuite
  • Deal with supplier queries in a professional and timely manner. Escalate disputes as required and ensure they are resolved.
  • Prepare the supplier and freelancer payment runs monthly and weekly
  • Create new vendors in the system as needed, ensuring proper procedures are followed and approvals obtained.
  • Build and maintain professional working relationship with key contacts within the business (eg divisional MDs, events and commercial teams).
  • Provide supporting documentation for audits
  • Reconciliation of supplier’s accounts on a regular basis and resolving/escalating any issues
  • Develop professional working relationships with contacts at external suppliers and use these relationships to help resolve queries and disputes

Skills and experience:

  • Able to demonstrate experience within an Accounts Payable team environment.
  • Ideally experience in a multi-entity group environment in a growth business.
  • Good Knowledge of Excel and general systems skills.
  • Ability to take own initiative and bring things to a resolution.
  • Experience working across multiple platforms and systems.
  • Ability to create and develop productive relationships with commercial contacts in the business

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines, resulting in efficient creation of regular payment runs, and quick resolution of queries or disputes.
  • Sound judgement and awareness of when to refer a matter to immediate or more senior management.
  • Able to create a good relationship with senior management in the group.
  • A strong understanding of business and organisational risk and the ability to analyse situations and apply judgement on decisions.
  • Awareness of the Company’s reputation, financial, and legal position.
